Minister Neno Dimov took over the EU Council Presidency of Environment

As a next rotating chairman of the EU Environment Council, Minister Nino Dimov symbolically took the "relay" from his Estonian colleague - Siim Kisler. The traditional ceremony of handing over the Presidency was held today in Brussels.

The first Bulgarian EU Council Presidency starts from 1st of January 2018 and will last until 30th of June 2018. As a rotating chairman of the EU Environment Council, our country will work to maintain high standards of environmental protection and the population’s quality of life through sustainable growth and “green economy”. Circular economy and eco-innovation initiatives, focused on resource efficiency, reduction of harmful effects on the environment and human health are the main priority of the Bulgarian EU Council Presidency. The priorities will be addressed though new technologies. Focus during the Presidency will be on improving the air quality and regulation.

Eco-innovation and transition to a cyclical economy were the main subjects for discussion of the international organization’s representatives (Green 10) during the traditional meeting held in Brussels.
