| Bulgaria becomes a member of the European Union on January 1st, 2007. From this date until July 11th, 2007 the old Waste Shipment Regulation (Council Regulation (EEC) No 259/93 of 1 February 1993 on the supervision and control of shipments of waste within, into and out of the European Community) will be in force for Bulgaria. The new regulation (Regulation (EC) No 1013/2006 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 14 June 2006 on shipments of waste) comes into force on July 12th 2007. |  |

In preparation of the accession to the European Union a Twinning Project concerning transboundary Shipments of Waste was performed between Austria and Bulgaria . Within this project amendments to the Bulgarian Law were prepared, a manual for the classification of wastes and containing all necessary information in connection with transboundary shipments of wastes was elaborated for customs authorities and the Regional Inspectorates of Environment and Water. This manual can also be useful for companies and all interested persons. Furthermore specimen for contracts following the rules of the Waste Shipment Regulations (old and new) were developed and are ready for download here. Downloads
