A mobile station of the Executive Environmental Agency (EEA) started unplanned measurements of air quality in Ruse. The station will carry out control activities over three days, measuring the concentrations of air pollutants, such as fine particulate matter, sulphur dioxide, nitrogen oxides, carbon monoxide, ozone, including organic benzene, toluene, xylene, as well as meteorological indicators - wind speed and direction, temperature, atmospheric pressure, etc.

The filters used to detect fine particulate matter concentrations will be sent to the EEA for further study. They will also be examined by gas chromatography, so as to detect any presence of benzopyrene and naphthalene.

The unplanned measurements are organized because of the numerous reports from the area of Ruse University “Angel Kanchev”. The results from the measurements will be announced within a week.
