The Minister of Environment and Water Julian Popov met with H.E. Mr. Juan Francisco Facetti Fernandez, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Paraguay.

The focal topic of the meeting was the development of cooperation in the field of renewable energy sources.

H.E. Mr. Juan Francisco Facetti Fernandez informed Minister Popov about the changes in the Government of Paraguay and his appointment as Climate Ambassador for his country. The two discussed their countries’ preparations for participation in the final preparatory ministerial meeting before the 28th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), to be held in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, on 30-31 October 2023 (Pre-COP).

Minister Popov presented Bulgarian priorities and ambitions in the field of climate change prevention, including in the context of the upcoming 28th Meeting of the Parties to the UNFCCC. He informed his guest that Bulgaria will be represented for the first time since it became a party to the Convention with a pavilion, where a number of events related to the green transition, development and expansion of renewable energy use, etc. will be held from 30 November to 12 December.

Minister Popov extended an invitation to the Paraguayan delegation that will participate in the event to visit the Bulgarian pavilion, where they will have the opportunity to meet representatives from leading Bulgarian companies working in the field of renewable energy.
