The winners of this year's Green Olympics are from Panagyurishte, Pavlikeni, and Belene. The contest was extremely competitive - a large number of participants reached the maximum number of points, and the answers to the last open question showed excellent knowledge and personal attitude towards nature conservation.

The winner among the youngest participants was the fourth-grader Radiana Uzunova from "Nesho Bonchev" Secondary School, Panagyurishte, who not only knows what the Red Book is, but has also studied it with great interest.

In the secondary school category the jury awarded Borislav Ivanov from 5th grade, "Bacho Kiro" Secondary School, Pavlikeni. He gave a well-reasoned answer to the last question "Why is it important to collect waste separately".

With the oldest students, like every year, the competitive spirit was most pronounced and the essays were written engagingly and literately. After long discussions, the jury awarded Vladimir Stoykov, a student from 9th grade at "Dimcho Debelyanov" Secondary School, Belene. The last open question for this group was "What do you know about nature reserves in Bulgaria".

All awarded essays will be published on the online platform https://zelenaolimpiada.com/ and on the Green Olympics Facebook page.

The initiative has been organized annually by Academica BG with the support of the Ministry of Environment and Water since 2011. It involves children from all over the country solving online tests in three age groups. In each group there is one winner who receives a tablet. This year the Olympics was held from 10 November to 10 December and the questions were mainly related to protected species, recycling, and clean air.

The Green Olympics, under the patronage of the Ministry of Environment and Water, has been established as the most prominent online educational initiative that stimulates children and young people to strengthen their knowledge about nature and its protection and that contributes to building environmental awareness, while its competitive nature stimulates participants to seek out information. The online format allows children and young people from across the country to participate.
