The Ministry of Environment and Water invites university students of high academic excellence studying in environment-related programs to participate in the competition “Green Support for a Sustainable Future” 2023.

The competition is held for the third consecutive year under the patronage of the Minister of Environment and Water as part of the initiatives to mark the European Commission's European Mobility Week campaign. It is organised by the Executive Environment Agency (EEA), which announced its third edition for the academic year 2023/2024.

"Energy Savings" is this year’s essay topic. This year's European Mobility Week was held under the same motto.

The prize for the winner is an annual financial support of 2970 BGN provided by the Enterprise for Management of Environmental Protection Activities (EMEPA).

Candidates must submit an essay or a short paper of 3 to 5 pages on the topic “Energy Savings” by 12 November 2023 included to press@eea.government.bg or to the EEA postal address. A committee of representatives from the MOEW, the EEA and the EMEPA will review the applications and invite the five best performers to an interview. The winner will be announced at the end of November.

The aim of the competition is to support and motivate university students to present an original, coherent and science-based approach to tackling urban environmental and mobility challenges in their work.

The European Mobility Week campaign encourages local authorities to introduce and support measures for sustainable transport, improving urban air quality and providing effective environmental solutions for the urban environment. The EMEPA is the national coordinator for the campaign in Bulgaria.
