In connection with the fire that occurred on July 21 in the area of the town of Kostinbrod, experts from the Regional Inspectorate for Environmental Protection - Sofia requested a report from the nearest measuring station (Automatic Measuring Station "Nadezhda") on the quality of the atmospheric air, located in the Western part of the capital. The average daily norm for the indicator Fine particulate matter (PM10) is 50 µg/m3, and the measured values for 22.07.2025 - 47.63 µg/m3, for 21.07.2025 - 26.5 µg/m3 and for 20.07.2025 - 20.4 µg/m3. These do not exceed the ceiling for fine particulate matter, according to Regulation No. 12 of July 15, 2010 on norms for sulfur dioxide, nitrogen dioxide, fine particulate matter, lead, benzene, carbon monoxide and ozone in ambient air (Regulation No. 12).

During the measurement conducted for the period from 01:00 on July 19 to 24:00 on July 22 at AMS "Druzhba", AMS "Mladost", AMS "Pavlovo", AMS "Hipodruma", AMS "Kopitoto", and AMS "Nadezhda", no exceedances of the average hourly and daily norms, as well as of the thresholds for informing the population of indicators PM10, PM2.5, ozone, nitrogen oxides, nitrogen dioxide, sulfur dioxide, carbon monoxide and benzene, according to Regulation No. 12, were recorded.

Citizens can obtain information about air quality in the city of Sofia through the "System for informing the population about the quality of atmospheric air", with public access on the website of the Executive Agency for the Environment in the section "Daily air quality bulletin".
