In connection with a signal submitted on June 20, 2025 by the Mayor of Yambol Municipality regarding low water levels of the Tundzha River in the Yambol region, by order of the Minister of Environment and Water Manol Genov, experts from the Basin Directorate "Eastern Aegean Region" - Plovdiv conducted a joint inspection with representatives of "Irrigation Systems" EAD - Middle Tundzha branch.

The inspection covered a section of the Tundzha River and part of its tributaries - from the "Mechkarevo" dam, built on the Tundzha River in the land of the village of Mechkarevo, Sliven Municipality (managed by "Irrigation Systems" EAD), to the bridge near the village of Zavoy, in the land of the village of Zavoy, Tundzha Municipality, Yambol region.

The inspection established that after the "Mechkarevo" dam, the outflow into the Tundzha River is within normal limits. No unregulated flooding by the river or deviations of water quantities before or after the dam have been established.

When bypassing the tributaries of the Tundzha River - the Sotirska and Sazhevitsa rivers, and the ravine near the village of Zhelyo Voyvoda, normal outflow without dry areas was also observed.

An inspection carried out on June 17, 2025 of the Zhrebchevo Dam and the Binkos Dam confirmed that the necessary ecological outflow is provided into the Tundzha River. The water quantities to maintain the ecological minimum are supplied through an overflow facility and the gaps of the Binkos Dam.
