At a working meeting in Varna, measures were discussed against the illegal parking on dunes on the Northern Black Sea coast

  • Placement of information boards by the municipalities and increased regular inspections in critical areas by officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs are part of the emergency measures until the end of the summer season

 

Yesterday, a working meeting was held in the building of RIEW - Varna in regard to the increased number of signals received for illegal parking of vehicles and wild camping on Black Sea dunes.

The meeting was held on initiative by the director of RIEW-Varna in order to discuss the problem in detail and coordinate the actions of institutions on the territory of Varna and Dobrich provinces. Participants in the meeting included the regional governor of the Varna province, the deputy regional governor of the Dobrich province, the mayors of Kavarna and Shabla municipalities, as well as representatives of the municipalities of Avren, Balchik, Byala, Dolni Chiflik, IVth Regional Department of the Province Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs - Varna, Regional Department of the Ministry of the Interior – Kavarna, the Regional Department of the Ministry of the Interior - Balchik, and the head of the “Crimes against the environment and wildlife” sector at the Main Directorate “National Police”.

The need was highlighted to strengthen cooperation between the institutions at the peak of the summer season to ensure environmentally-friendly tourism along the Northern Black Sea coast.

The meeting participants discussed various measures and actions that would help to reduce the cases of illegal parking on dunes. Part of the proposed urgent actions are the placing of information boards by the municipalities with about the dunes and increased regular checks on critical areas by officials from the Ministry of Internal Affairs until the end of the summer season.

The measures identified in the long-term plan include: proposals from the municipalities to allocate additional areas for parking cars near beaches; printing information brochures with text in English and Romanian and distributing them at the border crossing points during the summer season; placement of large information boards (billboard type) with text in two or more languages; drafting proposals for legislative amendments to optimize the prevention and control of wild camping and illegal parking on dunes. The proposal to conduct more information campaigns with students and citizens from the municipalities and RIEW - Varna was adopted.
