Century-old tree in the municipality of Provadia was declared protected

The Minister of Environment and Water Asen Lichev declared protected status for a cer (Quercus cerris) century-old tree in the village of Dobrina, Municipality of Provadia, District of Varna. The tree is about 170 years old, with a height of 25 meters and a trunk circumference of 3.77 meters.

By order of the Minister, the uprooting, felling, pruning, breaking of branches, damage to the stem, or any other actions that would lead to the destruction, damage or deterioration of the physiological condition of the tree are prohibited. The tree will be added to the registers and marked as a century-old tree in fulfillment of the requirements of the Biodiversity Act.

Timely and organized protection of trees in urban areas is among the priorities of the MOEW, which aims to raise public awareness and institutional care for environmental protection in the settlements of the country.
