  • According to NIMH data, river levels in the country are stabilizing after heavy rainfall

The dams are at 76.42% full and there are no uncontrolled overflows. To date, the amount of available stored volumes in the complex dams is 4994.9 million cubic meters, which represents 76.42% of their total volume.

Over 90% full are the dams "Srechenska Bara", "Hristo Smirnenski", "Kamchia", "Yasna Polyana", "Assenovets", "Borovitsa", "Studena", "Domlyan", "Topolnitsa", "Pchelina", "Alexander Stamboliyski", "Koprinka", "Vacha", "Krichim", and the dams of the "Arda" cascade.

At the moment, there are no uncontrolled overflows. The dams of the Arda cascade, as well as the Krichim dam and the Vacha dam, are conducting a high wave under a controlled regime. Preventive release to ensure free volumes is being carried out at the Trakiets dam and the Koprinka dam.

According to data from the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (NIMH), river levels in the country are stabilizing, with no significant changes expected in the coming days. Forecasts for March show precipitation around and below the climatic norm, which does not imply a permanent continuation of the intense precipitation from February.

The Ministry of Environment and Water (MOEW) reminds local authorities to implement the measures provided for in the Flood Risk Management Plans 2022-2027 and to monitor the current hydrometeorological information and forecasts for dangerous phenomena published on the official website of the Ministry.

The MOEW manages the water resources of 52 significant and complex dams.
