Deputy Minister of Environment and Water Petar Dimitrov launched the photo exhibition "Water Harmony", which is organized on the occasion of the World Water Day - March 22, and is held within the framework of the "Water Week" initiative by the Bulgarian Water Association (BAW) with the assistance of the Ministry of Environment and Water and the Enterprise for Management of Environmental Protection Activities, as well as in partnership with the Bulgarian Groundwater Association at the University of Mining and Geology "St. Ivan Rilski".

"Today we can view 40 photographs out of a total of 159 dedicated to water and participating in the competition. Each of them captures the beauty, power and magic of water in its own unique way," emphasized Deputy Minister Petar Dimitrov. According to him, such initiatives have an important role in increasing public sensitivity to the protection of water resources.

“This competition is extremely important to remind us of our commitment to the protection of water and water resources,” noted Deputy Minister Dimitrov.

Petar Dimitrov noted that it is no coincidence that the exhibition is being held at the University of Mining and Geology “St. Ivan Rilski”, where specialists with a key role in the management and protection of water resources in Bulgaria are trained.

The Rector of the University of Mining and Geology “St. Ivan Rilski” Prof. Ivaylo Koprev said that it is an honor for the educational institution to be a partner in such an initiative. He emphasized that the modern development of the mining industry is possible only in harmony with nature and with responsible management of natural resources, including water. He pointed out that the university trains future engineers to work with attention to environmental protection and sustainable use of resources.

The Chairman of the Bulgarian Environmental Protection Agency said that the interest in the competition grows every year, and this time 159 photos from about 100 authors had been received. “Our goal through such initiatives is to draw attention by the general public to the importance of water– a resource that we must value, protect and use wisely,” he said.

After the exhibition at the university, the photos will be shown at other universities and institutions in the country to remind the public of the importance of harmony between man and water.
