Deputy Minister of Environment and Water Reneta Koleva presented the first prize at the 20th anniversary edition of the “Mimi Pramatarova” literary contest. The award was presented to Momchil Minkov, a 9th-grade student at the “Nikola Velchev” Sports School in Samokov, for his essay “Do We Cherish Nature?” The first prize includes a crystal statuette, a certificate, and a one-time scholarship of 250 euros.

Deputy Minister Koleva congratulated the winner on this high honor and wished him continued success, inspiration, and active engagement in the cause of nature conservation. She also expressed her gratitude to all contest participants, as well as to their teachers, for the support and inspiration they provide to young people. “Over the years, the competition has established itself as a valuable initiative that encourages young people not only to be creative but also to reflect on their responsibility toward nature and society,” the deputy minister emphasized.

Today, the National Trust EcoFund (NTEF) presented its Development Strategy for the period 2026-2035, and financial instruments for mitigating the impacts of and adapting to climate change were discussed. “The long-term vision proposed by the NTEF’s strategy through 2035 is evidence of our commitment to achieving sustainable results. It builds on what has been achieved so far and creates better opportunities for investment in energy efficiency, adaptation to climate change, nature conservation, and improving people’s quality of life,” stated Deputy Minister Koleva. She expressed confidence that the strategy will serve as a useful foundation for developing policies and measures related to climate change and wished everyone success in achieving the set goals.

This year’s edition of the competition marks a double anniversary - it is dedicated to the 70th anniversary of Mimi Pramatarova’s birth, and the initiative itself is celebrating 20 years since its inception. The event was attended by partners and supporters of the National Environmental Fund, representatives of institutions, non-governmental organizations , and experts involved in environmental protection and climate change adaptation policies.
