The Ministry of Environment and Water (MOEW) would like to inform Bulgarian citizens that:

The “Iskar” Dam’s total volume is 88% full, which guarantees the drinking water supply of the capital until the end of the year.

The “Kamchia” Dam is almost 100% full, and Yasna Polyana Dam is 93% full, which guarantees the drinking water supply for the Black Sea coast throughout the tourist season.

The “Georgi Traikov” Dam is currently 56% full. This dam at present is used only for industrial water supply. In 2018, the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works informed the Ministry of Environment and Water that no investments are planned for emergency drinking and household  water supply to Varna with water from the “Georgi Traikov” Dam. For this reason, the permit was revoked by the MOEW. The Minister of Environment and Water Asen Lichev expects the Water Supply and Sewage-Varna OOD to submit an application for a permit for water abstraction from the “Georgi Traikov” Dam for emergency drinking and domestic water supply to Varna and the surrounding residential areas.

The ”Studena” Dam is full at 83% of its total volume. Considering the water amount for drainage of the dam and for industrial needs, currently the amount of drinking water for the town of Pernik is guaranteed until the end of the year.
