Experts from the Regional Inspectorate for Environment and Water - Veliko Tarnovo sealed two facilities at the chipboard (PCB) production line of Kronoshpan Bulgaria EOOD in Veliko Tarnovo, thereby halting the production activities of the installation.

The actions were taken today in implementation of an Order (No. RD-18/15.01.2026) of the Director of the Regional Inspectorate for Environmental Protection and Water - Veliko Tarnovo to apply a coercive administrative measure against the company.

The locations to be sealed were previously determined by the installation operator in order to safely shut down the production facilities. The procedure was carried out in the presence of representatives of the operator.

The term of the measure is until the necessary actions are taken to bring the operation of the installation in accordance with the requirements of condition 9.4.1 of the Comprehensive Permit (CP) No. 570-N0/2018.

In order to ensure the effectiveness of the actions taken, Kronospan Bulgaria EOOD should submit proposals for measures that are subject to approval by the Regional Inspectorate for Environment and Water - Veliko Tarnovo and the Regional Inspectorate for Health and Safety - Veliko Tarnovo.

The Regional Inspectorate for Environment and Water - Veliko Tarnovo points out that the decision of the court in Burgas does not automatically cancel the implementation of the imposed measure and an appeal is pending before the Supreme Administrative Court. Until the final decision, the Kronospan Bulgaria chipboard production line will not operate.
