Firefighting continues for fifth day in Rila National Park
02 Sep, 2025 | 16:23Over 50 people - employees of the Rila National Park, firefighters, military and forest officials, continue to fight the fire in the Belite Kamani area and the area above it today.
Despite the heavy rain on Sunday night, the fire has not been extinguished and efforts to deal with it have been ongoing for the fifth day.
Today, extinguishing is concentrated in areas with burning dry trees, bushes, and branches in the forest area. In the subalpine belt, towards the peaks of Skachkovets and Ismailitsa, there are two fires caused by strong winds, one of which has already been brought under control, while the other is currently being contained. Dry grass and juniper are burning in hard-to-reach places at an altitude of over 2100 meters.
The teams are divided into three main groups on the periphery and in the high part of the mountain to prevent the fire from spreading.
