RIEW – Burgas carried out an inspection following a report of fuel oil stains on Arkutino beach near Primorsko. As per the inspection’s instructions, the Municipality of Primorsko took immediate measures and the contamination has already been cleaned up.

The contamination is very old, in the form of hardened pieces of fuel oil that have been lying on the seabed for years, according to the on-site analysis. The inspectors’ inspection found remnants of the old fuel oil only in the Southernmost part of the beach, near rocks.

After all the fuel oil residues were cleaned and collected, they were temporarily transported to a landfill, from where they will be taken for treatment by a company with a permit to work with this type of waste.
