The “Green Olympics” started today, after by decision of the Minister of Environment and Water Asen Lichev the Ministry renewed its support for holding the format. The Olympics have been organized since 2012 and are established as the largest environmental educational event.

The organizers from “Academica BG” envisage to conduct the initiative entirely online, which allows for the participation by children and young people from all parts of the country, as well as by Bulgarian children living abroad.

On the special online platform www.zelenaolimpiada.com participants can register and test their knowledge of nature and its conservation by answering age-group tailored questions. The last question is open requiring a short essay on a given topic to be written.

From each of the three age groups - starting, intermediate, and upper course of schooling, one winner will be announced and three attractive prizes will be awarded to the winning students. The winners will be announced on December 12th on the Green Olympics website.

Every year, around 5,000 children and young people from 1st to 12th grade take part in the Green Olympics. With its competitive nature, the initiative stimulates students to learn more about environmental protection and contributes to building an ecological culture.
