In Romania, Minister Julian Popov met with his counterpart Diana Buzoianu

The Minister of Environment and Water Julian Popov met with Romania’s Minister of Environment, Water and Forests Diana Buzoianu.

The meeting took place during a working visit to Bucharest. During the talks, issues of mutual interest in the field of the environment, water and climate policies were discussed, with an emphasis on the importance of regional cooperation in the face of growing environmental and climate challenges.

Both sides emphasised the importance of institutional dialogue and the exchange of information between the competent authorities, including in the context of water management and the protection of the marine environment in the Black Sea region.

Broader European priorities in the fields of climate, sustainable development, and natural resource management were also addressed. A review was conducted of current cooperation in areas related to the circular economy and resource management, as well as of the exchange of experience on the implementation of policies and instruments at European level.

Issues related to the implementation of key decarbonisation policies and their impact on the economic environment and regional connectivity were also discussed.

Bulgaria and Romania reaffirmed their shared commitment to continuing and deepening cooperation in the fields of environment, water, and climate within European and regional frameworks.
