Today, after the inspection for oil pollution, Kabakum - North beach near Varna has already been cleaned. The cause for the pollution was an accident in a boiler room at the Specialized Rehabilitation Hospital. The company managing the rehabilitation hospital has taken immediate action, and cleaning activities began during the inspection.

At present, the sand coast has been completely cleaned. The Municipality of Varna is about to clean the deposits of oil products on the closed section of the concrete pipeline for surface and rainwater.

We remind that the pollution report was received on January 31, 2026 at the Regional Inspectorate for Environment and Water - Varna via the "green phone" of the Single European Emergency Number 112. An on-site inspection was immediately carried out by experts from the Regional Inspectorate for Environment and Water (RIEW) - Varna, the Black Sea Region Basin Directorate, the Municipality of Varna, and the Ministry of Interior (MOI).
