As part of the initiatives marking the European Mobility Week in Bulgaria, the Minister of Environment and Water Asen Lichev established an annual competition for students with high academic achievements “Green Support for a Sustainable Future”.
The competition will be conducted by the Executive Environment Agency, which announced its first edition for the academic year 2021/2022.
The winner prize is an annual financial support in the amount of 2,970 BGN, which will be provided by the Enterprise for Management of Environmental Protection Activities.
The aim of the competition is to support the connection between the theory and the practice and to contribute to the engagement of young people who have chosen to study in higher education fields related to environmental protection and sustainable development. The challenges of the sustainable future on the global scale and in Bulgaria require the adoption of key decisions and active actions by well-educated and trained “green” leaders. Young professionals should be supported in their development in order to be successful in their future responsible careers.
The competition will take place every year as part of the European Commission’s European Mobility Week campaign (16th-22nd September), which encourages local authorities to introduce and support sustainable transport measures and constitutes an opportunity to improve urban air quality and ensure sustainable environmental solutions for the urban environment. With this idea in mind, the competition encourages students to present original, consistent and science-based approaches for tackling the challenges of the urban environment and mobility in their submissions.
The application deadline is October 3rd, 2021.
