The Deputy Prime Minister for Climate Policy and Minister of Environment and Water Borislav Sandov received a certificate of appreciation and a plaque of the award “Eco-Guardian of Northwestern Bulgaria” 2022 by the editor-in-chief of www.severozapazenabg.com Mariana Gomileva

The award is given by the readers and the media’s team of reporters in gratitude for the active and well-targeted actions by Minister Borislav Sandov since the beginning of the year for nature conservation in this part of the country.

“After receiving numerous comments and letters supporting him, we decided to award Minister Sandov with a letter of gratitude and a plaque for his work for more protected areas, for the implementation of new eco-projects, and for expanding the cooperation with the bordering Serbia and Romania. The specific reason is that citizens were moved by the gesture of Minister Sandov, whereby he issued the long-awaited order to declare the natural landmark ‘Bashovishki Pech’ a protected area,” said the editor-in-chief Mariana Gomileva.

“What we are trying to do at the Ministry of Environment and Water is to establish long-term initiatives. We have a lot of work ahead of us and I am glad that we are receiving support from so many like-minded people. It is an indication that our vision for the work of the Ministry and the policies we pursue in cooperation with the local authorities are headed in the right direction for our common cause – a cleaner environment, not only in Northwestern Bulgaria but in the country as a whole. I accept this gesture of gratitude with an appeal to all of us to be eco-guardians and to soon join EU member states in having successful green initiatives,” said Minister Borislav Sandov when receiving the award.
