Today the Minister of Environment and Water Julian Popov met with the Ambassador of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria His Excellency Mr. Messaoud Mehila.

Minister Popov highlighted the significance of relations with the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria, underlining the potential to build upon and deepen the friendship and mutual assistance. As a positive step in this direction, he pointed to the expansion of the legal basis for cooperation with Algeria in the fields of environment, water, and climate through the conclusion of a bilateral treaty.

Minister Popov informed that an internal procedure for the approval of a draft Memorandum of Understanding in the field of water resources between Bulgaria and Algeria is being drafted, and he is ready to sign it when convenient for both sides.
