The Minister of Environment and Water Julian Popov and the Ambassador of the Swiss Confederation Raymund Furrer discussed the cooperation within the framework of the Second Swiss Contribution in the field of environmental protection.

In the current program period, the MOEW is responsible for the preparation and implementation of three programs. They aim to improve air quality through a modernized national air quality measurement system, waste management - with an emphasis on the disposal of end-of-use pesticides, as well as the development of sustainable, energy-efficient visitor infrastructure and sustainable use of national parks .

During the meeting, Minister Popov presented the progress with the programs operated by the ministry, emphasizing the importance of the Swiss experience and joint work in solving key environmental problems. Minister Popov emphasized the importance of including all stakeholders in programming and implementation activities, which will contribute to strengthening the public’s trust in Bulgarian institutions.

At the end of the meeting, the two discussed next steps for the successful implementation of the measures planned for implementation under the Swiss-Bulgarian cooperation program.
