Minister Karamfilova and the German Ambassador Irene Plank discussed bilateral cooperation projects in the environmental field

The Minister of Environment and Water Rositsa Karamfilova and the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany H.E. Irene Maria Plank discussed projects for bilateral cooperation in the field of environment.

“We highly appreciate Germany’s support within these projects. In the field of the environment, the cooperation between our countries is long-standing and very successful,” said Minister Karamfilova at the meeting today at the MOEW. She also noted that projects aimed at air quality management and water pollution control are currently implemented. Minister Karamfilova explained that introducing the deposit system in Bulgaria is a priority.

The topics discussed at the meeting also included the introduction of the circular economy model, the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, Bulgaria’s bid to host and chair the COP 29 conference in 2024, as well as joint initiatives to raise awareness on environmental protection issues for students and young people.

Minister Karamfilova congratulated Ambassador Plank on her appointment and wished her success in fulfilling her priorities during her mandate.
