The Minister of Environment and Water Rositsa Karamfilova met with representatives of the World Bank to discuss  the implementation of the “Agreement on the provision of services in support of the development of River Basin Management Plans and Flood Risk Management Plans for Bulgaria”. The meeting was joined by the Deputy Ministers of Environment and Water Petar Dimitrov and Maria Boyadzhiyska.

The progress in the implementation of the agreement activities and the preparation of the plans were discussed. Minister Karamfilova expressed concern with the serious delay in the implementation of the activities, especially regarding the Flood Risk Management Plans and insisted on active engagement and serious progress in the next months. The minister emphasized that the time for analysis has passed and she expects action, adding that the next process - in terms of implementation - is a joint task to be fulfilled in partnership and efforts must be made by both sides to speed it up.

Within the next few days, there will be a series of expert-level meetings on the plans, where a variety of topics will be discussed and the necessary steps will be identified so as to finalize the draft plans and launch public consultations.
