Minister Lichev: The location for the air quality measuring station in Ruse will be determined by June 4th

“The location for the installation of an automatic air quality measuring station in Ruse will be determined by June 4th.” This was stated by the Minister of Environment and Water Asen Lichev at a meeting with the Mayor of the Municipality of Ruse Pencho Milkov at the Ministry of Environment and Water. The meeting was also attended by experts from the Executive Environment Agency (EEA). The automatic measuring station is owned by to the Municipality of Ruse.

The Minister of Environment and Water promised to commission an inspection of the complex permit of a large enterprise in the city, which, according to the Mayor, has been repeatedly violated by the said company. “I guarantee that if violations are found, the authorities that issued the permit and those who exert control over its implementation will suffer the respective administrative consequences. If a violation has been committed, which leads to a mandatory change of the permit, sanctions will be imposed as soon as possible,” Minister Lichev said.

Minister Lichev promised to seek diplomatic dialogue for the inclusion of the Municipality of Ruse in the International Expert Group Romania-Bulgaria under the environmental agreement, which also encompasses air quality.
