• The system capacity increase to be funded by the Environment Program 2021-2027.

The Minister of Environment and Water Manol Genov and the Mayor of Dryanovo Trifon Panchev signed a contract for the upgrade of the capacity of the composting plant for separately collected biodegradable municipal waste of the municipality.

The investment is over 553000 BGN in total, of which 309000 BGN is the grant from the Environment Program 2021-2027.

The project envisages increasing the capacity of the existing composting plant on the territory of the Dryanovo municipality by 384 tons per year, or from 900 tons to 1284 tons per year. This will provide the opportunity to treat the entire amount of green and biodegradable municipal waste generated on the territory of the Dryanovo municipality and its subsequent composting.

The project will purchase containers, a specialized truck for transporting separately collected biodegradable waste, as well as a mobile screen for sifting compost with a capacity of about 20-30 cubic meters per hour.

A reception area will be built within the framework of the project for temporary storage of separately collected “wet” biowaste and “dry” biowaste. A metal shed will be built to cover the existing scale for measuring incoming quantities of separately collected green and biodegradable waste, located immediately next to the reception area.

The implementation of the activities will contribute to the fulfillment of the post-2023 requirements for mandatory separate collection of biowaste, to achieving the 2030 goals for separate collection and recycling, as well as to the overall reduction of the quantities of landfilled municipal waste.

The project is being implemented under the procedure "Measures for the construction, expansion and/or upgrading of municipal and regional systems for separate collection and recycling of biodegradable waste" - priority "Waste" of the Environment Program 2021-2027. The planned period for the implementation of the activities is 22 months.
