The Minister of Environment and Water Manol Genov commissioned the four Basin Directorates – Danube Region (city of Pleven), Black Sea Region (city of Varna), East Aegean Region (city of Plovdiv), and West Aegean Region (city of Blagoevgrad) – to prepare and provide combined maps of the regions with significant potential flood risk.

The maps will combine data from the cadastral map, satellite images, and extracts from specialized maps at an appropriate scale, in order to ensure better visualization and analysis of vulnerable territories.

The implementation of the task will begin as a priority in the Black Sea Region Basin Directorate – Varna, where the pilot model for integrating spatial data will be implemented.

The measure is part of the efforts by the Ministry of Environment and Water to increase the effectiveness of water management and flood risks prevention throughout the country.
