"Let's collect waste separately in everyday life, at home". This message was sent by the Minister of Environment and Water Manol Genov on the day of the campaign "Let's Clean up Bulgaria Together", to which the Ministry of Environment and Water is once again a partner of bTV.
"This year we have emphasized the separate collection of waste. The message is to adolescents, to young people - separately collected waste is a better quality raw material in the circular economy. By using a large amount of this waste in the circular economy, we save an enormous amount of primary resources for the production of a certain type of packaging", said Minister Manol Genov.
He reminded that every year in the initiative we take stock of what has been achieved, because it is "sad to brag on this day about how much waste we have collected - this means that we pollute more". And he called on people to be proud when they have collected a little waste. "When we neglect nature, it always punishes us," warned Minister Genov.
The teams with the participants in the campaign from the Ministry of Environment, the Executive Environment Agency, the Environmental Protection Agency, the National Fund for the Protection of Nature, the National Institute of Mines and the Regional Inspectorate for Environmental Protection - Sofia were again in the Hunting Park in the capital this year. Minister Manol Genov joined the clean-up together with experts from all structures and Deputy Ministers Reneta Koleva and Viktor Atanasov, the Secretary General Klimentina Deneva, the Chief of Staff Mihaela Dotsova, the Director General of the General Directorate "Operational Program Environment" Irena Pencheva, and the Executive Director of the Environmental Protection Agency Magdalena Georgieva. Across the country, employees from the 15 regional environmental and water inspectorates, the three national parks, and the four basin directorates went out into nature to participate in clean-up actions.
For the first time for the campaign, the ministry used three different colors of bags - yellow for plastic, metal and paper, green for glass and black for general waste. In line with the words of Minister Manol Genov, the amount of waste collected on the territory of the Hunting Park has been decreasing over the years, which shows a good trend in terms of the habits of its visitors and hope that the development of lasting habits for environmental protection has begun.
The Enterprise for Management of Environmental Protection Activities (EMEPA) provided over 40000 bags and 800 boxes of gloves, distributed throughout the country through the regional structures of the Ministry of Environment and Water. 2500 fuel vouchers were also provided for the removal of waste from the municipalities. As every year, the Ministry of Environment and Water provided assistance to ensure that the collected quantities were deposited free of charge.
