The Minister of Environment and Water Manol Genov met with the Ambassador of Israel to Bulgaria His Excellency Yosef Lefi Sfari. The two countries maintain stable and friendly relations, which continue to develop in a spirit of trust and mutual understanding.

Minister Genov presented the priorities of the Ministry of Environment and Water related to policies for improving the quality of life and the well-being of the population on a national, regional, and European scale.

“In the field of water management, my efforts are focused on improving and expanding the water supply and sanitation infrastructure to stop water losses and increase access to drinking water. I will also work to increase the share of treated water as part of our vision for sustainable water resources management,” Minister Genov said during the meeting.

Given Israel’s leading experience in innovative water treatment technologies and reducing water losses from hydro-ameliorative infrastructure, there is significant potential for strengthening cooperation between the two countries.

Both sides agreed that the global challenges related to climate change are an indisputable fact and require active work with institutions, businesses and civil society to implement good practices and environmentally friendly solutions, leading to sustainable development and a reduction in the negative impact of climate change.
