The Minister of Environment and Water Manol Genov held a meeting with H.E. Rami bin Saud Al-Otaibi, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Bulgaria.

The two discussed investment opportunities in both the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Bulgaria. Minister Genov explained the applicable national legislation in case of investment intentions.

The two sides exchanged views on the priority policies for each country in the field of environment, water, and climate. Ambassador Rami bin Saud Al-Otaibi presented two programs of his country, namely the Green Initiative and Vision 2030, which will aim at the reduction of carbon emissions and the planting of 450 million trees by 2030.

Minister Genov highlighted policies in which Bulgaria has know-how, such as water management, the protection, maintenance, and restoration of ecosystems and their inherent biodiversity, etc.

The two sides agreed that organizing an experience sharing event with the participation of various stakeholders from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Republic of Bulgaria would have tangible added value for the sustainable development of future bilateral relations and would help reveal the significant potential of mutually beneficial Bulgarian-Saudi cooperation.
