"The entire area between Sveti Vlas and Pomorie in the Flood Risk Management Plan of the Black Sea Basin Directorate is listed as a high-risk flood zone." This was stated today by the Minister of Environment and Water in the morning block of BNT "The Day Begins". He explained that these floods can occur when there are large amounts of precipitation on the slopes of the Stara Planina, as in the case of the Elenite Holiday Village.

"We are obliged to have flood risk management plans," Minister Manol Genov also said. In these plans, which each Basin Directorate in Bulgaria develops for the respective basin management region, all the neuralgic points threatened by floods during intense rains, strong inflow of water and heavy rainfall in certain places have been identified.

"We have seen how nature took revenge for negligence, irresponsibility, and greed. This costs human lives," added the Minister. According to him, it is not important who owns the land, but how irresponsible he has been as an investor. “It is extremely irresponsible to build on filled-in ravines,” he added, stressing that if he finds that current heads of institutions have compromised, he will demand their resignations.
