“I am happy to see that the laboratory where I studied as an university student will give you at least as good a practical training as it gave me,” the Minister of Environment and Water Rositsa Karamfilova addressed the students at the opening of renovated laboratories in the Department of “Organic Chemistry” at the University of Chemical Technology and Metallurgy in Sofia.

The Rector of university Prof. Dr. Eng. Senya Terzieva-Zhelyazkova addressed the students with the words: “It is always a joy for us when we meet role models of successful graduates of the University of Chemical Technology and Metallurgy. I am happy that we have the opportunity to provide you with an internship and share knowledge in such modern conditions. So that you will be able to follow in the footsteps of the role models, passing through all levels of higher education with desire and finding a field for your professional expression, both in technology and as part of the management of important processes in the state.”

Minister Karamfilova emphasized the important support received from the Ministry of Education and Science, thanks to which the modernization of the laboratories was implemented. The laboratories will be equipped as part of a project for research universities, and the undertaken renovation works will ensure an improvement of the study environment for 4 leading departments at the university.

At the event, nine renovated laboratories were opened, four of which are intended for teaching, while the other five will be for research - two for doctoral students and young scientists from the department and three as part of the research infrastructure, which is needed for participation in the project for research university funded under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan.

“Investments in infrastructure for education and science are extremely important, as they directly contribute to improving the quality of education. This is a way to support young specialists in their development,” Minister Karamfilova noted in conclusion.
