Minister Sandov met with the Ambassador of Israel

The Deputy Prime Minister for Climate Policy and Minister of Environment and Water Borislav Sandov met with the Ambassador of the State of Israel to Bulgaria His Excellency Mr Yoram Elron.

Minister Sandov expressed satisfaction with the long-term fruitful cooperation between Bulgaria and Israel in the field of water management and readiness by our country to deepen it. The two discussed the possibilities for conducting bilateral initiatives for exchange of experience and good practices in the use and monitoring of water resources. The Israeli Embassy will organize a webinar in the field of water management, and invite representatives of the governmental, non-governmental, and private sectors to participate.

The positions of the two countries on issues related to climate policy were also discussed. Ambassador Elron highlighted that this topic is among the priorities on Israel’s environmental agenda, noting that the country has committed to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.

Minister Sandov informed that for the first time Bulgaria has a Deputy Prime Minister for Climate Policy, which is a clear signal for the importance attributed to this policy in respect to the national, European, and international level. He said he plans to work actively for the adoption of measures to mitigate the negative effects and adapt to climate change.
