Deputy Minister eng. Peter Dimitrov

Eng. Peter Dimitrov was born in 1973. He holds a Master’s Degree in Hydromelioration Engineering, with specializations in Bulgaria, Japan, Germany, and Italy. For 20 years he worked at the largest in terms of territorial scope basin directorate in Bulgaria, i.e. the one for the Danube Region. He has held various expert and managerial positions, and for more than 5 years he was the Director of the Basin Directorate Danube River Region.

In the period May - December 2021 and from August 2022 to early June 2023 he served as interim Deputy Minister in the Ministry of Environment and Water.

He has participated in the development of strategic and regulatory documents in the field of water management at national and European level. He represented the country in expert groups of the International Commission for the Protection of the Danube River. He has led and participated in a number of national and international projects related to water conservation and sustainable water management.

Between 2003 and 2020 he was actively involved in the development, updating, and implementation of the Water Management and Flood Risk Management Plans of the Danube Region and the International Danube Basin.

He is guided in his actions by the principles of sustainable development and environmental and water protection.
