Deputy Minister of Environment and Water Malina Krumova participated in the conference “Energy Efficiency Funding: The National Renovation Plan and the Role of Local Authorities”.

“Buildings renovation is a complex topic that brings together environmental, economic and social policies. It is this complexity that requires effective coordination between institutions”, said Deputy Minister Krumova. She noted that the implementation of the National Buildings Renovation Plan requires the implementation of a comprehensive package of measures and consistent actions over a long-term horizon of 25 years, including innovation promotion.

According to her, the implementation of the plan covers the competencies of several institutions – in the fields of environment, regional development, innovation, and industry, whereby municipalities are to play a key role. “The most sustainable coordination between institutions is achieved at the local level”, emphasized Malina Krumova. According to her, buildings renovation plays a key role in improving the quality of life, reducing emissions and limiting the impact on the climate, as well as in climate change adaption.

The national conference was organized by the Municipal Energy Efficiency Network "EcoEnergy" and the Energy Efficiency Center "EnEffect" in partnership with the National Trust Ecofund.
