No agricultural activities will be allowed on the territory of the “Asparuhov Val” dam near Kozloduy

Deputy Minister of Environment and Water, eng. Petar Dimitrov, led an inspection in the area of the “​​Asparuhov Val” Dam, located within the lands of the town of Kozloduy, Kozloduy municipality, Zlatia and Razgrad villages, Vulchedrum municipality.

 During the inspection, it was established that agricultural activities were carried out on the territory of the dam, in areas on the left rim. Currently, the dam, which is used for irrigation and aquaculture, is limited to 8.1 million cubic meters of flooded volume. Deputy Minister Dimitrov pointed out that due to the agricultural activities the public interests had been violated, a prerequsite had been created for negative impact on the rims, the facilities, the water quality, and protected areas. He highlighted that all measures will be taken to prevent such unregulated actions on the territory of the dam.

 The dam is owned by “Irrigation Systems” EAD - Sofia. Experts from the Danube Region Basin Directorate, the Regional Inspectorate for Environment and Water-Vratsa, and “Irrigation Systems” EAD - Mizia Branch took part in the inspection.
