The Sixth Call for Proposals for the European Climate Initiative (EUKI) of the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU) starts today and spans from 23 November 2021 to 12 January 2022.

Each year, the European Climate Initiative announces a call for project ideas, whereby non-profit organizations from EU Member States are invited to submit project proposals.

“My ministry has launched the European Climate Initiative to support Europe’s transition to zero-emission societies and economies,” the Federal Minister for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety of the Federal Republic of Germany, Ms Silke Karcher said in a letter to Minister of Environment and Water Asen Lichev with an invitation to organizations from Bulgaria that would be interested in participating.

All information and application forms can be found on the EUKI website at https://www.euki.de/en/.

The European Climate Initiative is an instrument for project funding by the German Federal Ministry of the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety. Its overarching goal is to promote climate cooperation within the European Union in order to mitigate greenhouse gas emissions by strengthening cross-border dialogue and cooperation, as well as the exchange of knowledge and experience.

Since it started at the end of 2016, the Initiative has funded 29 projects in Bulgaria, 15 of which are in the process of implementation, while the remaining 14 have already been completed. The projects focus on awareness raising, energy, finance, climate policy, buildings, and municipalities. More information on all EUKI projects in Bulgaria is published on the initiative's website.
