The fire that broke out today at a waste treatment site near the city of Stara Zagora, close to the village of Hrishteni, has not yet been contained. Firefighting efforts will continue until the end of daylight hours. Three fire trucks from the Regional Directorate of Fire Safety and Civil Protection will remain on site overnight. Efforts to bring the fire under control will continue tomorrow.

Teams from the Regional Inspectorate of Environment and Water - Stara Zagora and the Regional Laboratory - Stara Zagora of the Environment Executive Agency (EAE) are conducting additional measurements of air quality in the area using a mobile automatic air quality monitoring station.

Given the nature and scale of the incident, monitoring will continue for 72 hours, tracking changes in air quality indicators in the fire area and nearby settlements. At this time, there is no evidence that air quality standards have been exceeded, and there is no danger to the life or health of the population.
