A team of the Regional Inspectorate for Environment and Water - Sofia (RIEW - Sofia) is conducting an inspection in connection with a fire report received for the territory of Bobov Dol TPP AD, Golemo Selo village.

At 20:50 on July 20, a fire broke out in the plant's own block transformer at Power Boiler No. 1. The flames engulfed the transformer, which burned completely. The probable cause of the fire was a short circuit inside the facility. Immediately after the fire broke out, Power Unit No. 1 was shut down and taken out of operation. The fire was completely extinguished around 22:00.

In the nearest settlement to the plant - Golemo Selo village, measurements will be carried out with a Gasmet DX 4040 emergency device of the following indicators of atmospheric air quality: sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxides, carbon monoxide, and carbon dioxide.

Teams from the Regional Inspectorate for Environment and Water - Sofia and the General Directorate for Laboratory Analytical Activities at the Executive Environment Agency are on site. A process has been coordinated for air measurement and for positioning a mobile automatic measuring station in the village of Golemo Selo in order to monitor the indicators of atmospheric air quality.

The Regional Inspectorate for Environment and Water - Sofia will inform the public about the results of the control actions carried out.
