A team of the Regional Inspectorate for Environment and Water (RIEW) – Sofia is conducting an on-site inspection in connection with a fire that occurred at around 16:00h today at a location in the immediate vicinity of the “Bobov Dol” Thermal Power Plant. The site is managed by another legal entity – “Heat Energy”.

At the moment, the cause of the fire, which has already been localized, has not been established. Firefighting operations are being carried out by teams of the General Directorate for Fire Safety and Civil Protection from Kyustendil, Dupnitsa, and Bobov Dol, as well as by a team and equipment of the “Bobov Dol” Thermal Power Plant AD.

In the village of Golemo Selo, which is the closest settlement to the incident, a mobile automatic station (MAS) of the Executive Environment Agency (EEA) is located. The station performs continuous monitoring of ambient air quality. So far, no exceedances of the normative values for air quality indicators have been registered.

The wind direction is not towards the village of Golemo Selo, which means that there is no gassing of the settlement.
