  • According to the Minister of Environment and Water Julian Popov legislative measures are needed to protect the landscape and beautiful views

An exhibition of the 50 best photographs concluded the "Views to Share" campaign, carried out under the auspices of the Ministry of Environment. More than 400 photographs of beautiful sites in Bulgaria were submitted by more than 160 readers of "24 Chasa", and the Minister of Environment and Water Julian Popov awarded the best ones.

According to Minister Popov, this exhibition has two dimensions - one is inspiring and uplifting and is related to Bulgaria, which is a truly beautiful country with amazing views. The second is the commitment of Bulgarian institutions to preserve this natural environment.

Bulgarian citizens are becoming more and more sensitive to the quality of life and more and more attentive and appreciative of nature and natural scenery. According to Minister Popov, Bulgarian legislation talks about the landscape, but no one has yet given the people and the institutions the power and authority to protect it - something that could be done by adopting special legislation.

I would shoot more beautiful images in Bulgaria, because there are many and it is most important to show them. If they remain only in our devices, they would not have the same value as when many people see them, says Nikolay Shabarkov, who photographed the panevrithmia at the Lake Babreka and won one of the five big prizes.

Maria Georgieva, 11, who was the youngest participant in the contest, photographed the sunrise from her favourite place - Ahtopol. "They don't call it the city of love for nothing, it is a magical place that everyone should visit," she said.

The contest was announced at the end of July. The best "Views to Share" have been seen by hundreds of thousands of people on the Internet, and will soon find their way to more fans of Bulgarian nature at various places in Sofia and across the country.
