• Determining the boundaries of the Boyana Marsh marks the beginning of a process that will enable its ongoing conservation

The Director of the Basin Directorate “Danube Region” - Pleven, issued an order determining the boundaries of the water body “Boyana Marsh” in the locality “Gardova Glava”, Vitosha district, Sofia municipality.

The order for the establishment of the boundaries of the water body was issued on the basis of the Water Act, following a request to the basin directorate by the Architecture and Public Works Department at the Sofia Municipality and in connection with the decision by the Municipal Expert Council on Spatial Planning from June 2022.

The Boyana Marsh water body is on the territory of a privately owned real estate. The boundaries of the water body have been determined on the basis of hydrological studies and hydraulic calculations provided by the municipality and under the conditions specified therein, without prejudice to the property rights of the persons concerned, without establishing encumbrances on their properties or obstacles to the exercise of ownership.
