The international competition for children and students Danube Art Master 2025 begins
21 May, 2025 | 11:14The Ministry of Environment and Water and the Association “Global Water Partnership – Bulgaria” invite you to participate in the traditional international competition Danube Art Master/DAM (“Danube Master of Arts”). Children from all schools, NGOs, clubs, children’s centers or associations for children in the municipalities of the Danube Basin are invited to create a work of art and participate in the competition.
For another year, Bulgarian children and students aged between 6 and 18 can join the international competition Danube Art Master. The initiative is organized by the Global Water Partnership in Central and Eastern Europe (GWP CEE) and the International Commission for the Protection of the Danube River (ICPDR) and encourages children to take a closer look at their local river, reflect on what the environment means to them and create original works of art, photography or video. The competition is held at two levels: national and international.
This year, the Danube Art Master competition is under the motto “Our Danube – our Future”. Participants come from all countries in the Danube basin – Germany, Austria, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro, Romania, Bulgaria, Moldova, and Ukraine.
The national phase of the competition is to take place in the period May-October 2025 and is organized by the national coordinator Association “Global Water Partnership – Bulgaria”. The Ministry of Environment and Water is a partner for its implementation.
The competition is traditionally related to the message of the upcoming Danube Day Campaign – June 29, which aims to encourage all those living in the Danube basin to increase their awareness and be active in protecting the river and its tributaries.

The Convention for Cooperation in the Conservation and Sustainable Use of the Danube River was signed by the Danube countries in Sofia on 29 June 1994. This is the strategic document on which international cooperation for the conservation of one of the most important European rivers and its tributaries is based. The Danube basin covers an area of 817000 km², which extends across 19 European countries, thus connecting 81 million people along its 2859 km length and unites different languages, cultures, and histories. The basin is distinguished by an exceptional diversity of ecosystems and habitats of plant and animal species.
