The MOEW holds application procedures for new regional directors

The Ministry of Environment and Water announced application procedures for new directors of some Regional Inspectorates of Environment and Water (RIEW), Basin Directorates, and one of the national parks.

The deadline for submitting applications for directors of RIEWs in Pleven, Stara Zagora and Shumen is May 9. An application procedure is also underway for heads of inspectorates in Haskovo and Burgas, as well as the Central Balkan National Park Directorate (Gabrovo), where decisions of selection committees are expected.

Among the main requirements for the candidates for heads of inspectorates is to present a concept for the implementation of the management and control policy in environmental protection at the regional level, and for the Central Balkans - for the protected areas. The final selection will be made after an interview. For each of the positions, the requirement is to have minimum 3 years of experience in a managerial position and/or 7 years of experience in the field of analysis, management, monitoring, and control.

Currently, the directors of the five environmental inspectorates are appointed on a fixed-term employment contract with an expiration date after the completion of the application procedures, while the head of the national park is acting.

Application procedures have also been announced for heads of the East Aegean Basin Directorate-Plovdiv, the West Aegean Basin Directorate-Blagoevgrad, and the Danube Region Basin Directorate-Pleven. The deadline for submission of applications is May 16, and applicants need to present a concept for “Implementation of water management policy at national, basin, and regional level - management, conservation and control.”
