Forty thousand bags and 800 boxes of gloves for the campaign “Let’s Clean Bulgaria Together” were sent today to the regional structures of the Ministry of Environment and Water throughout the country with a truck of the Enterprise for Management of Environmental Protection Activities (EMEPA). The large-scale volunteer campaign by bTV will be held on September 20 (Saturday).

The bags and gloves have been provided with the financial support of the EMEPA for a total of 11500 leva. They will be distributed to the participants in the cleanup by the regional directorates of the environment and water throughout the country and by the directorates of the three national parks - Rila, Pirin and Central Balkan.

With the financial support of the enterprise, the Ministry of Environment and Water is also providing 2500 fuel vouchers with a nominal value of 20 leva, for a total value of 50000 leva. The fuel vouchers will be sent to the regional administrations, which are to provide them to the municipalities in order to facilitate the removal of the collected waste.

This year, the Ministry of Environment and Water also provided assistance to exempt the municipalities from the fees for the quantities of waste deposited during the campaign. The waste will be deposited at regional landfills.

The Ministry of Environment and Water is an established long-term partner of the campaign, but for the first year it is providing bags in 3 colors - yellow, green, and black, intended for separate waste collection: yellow for paper, plastic and metal; green for glass; black for other types of household waste.

"The color bags, in addition to good mood, also carry an important message to society - to teach children and build lasting habits in young people to separate household waste and dispose of it in the designated colored containers," explained the Executive Director of the Environmental Protection Agency Magdalena Georgieva when sending the bags and gloves.

Across the country, employees from all regional divisions of the Ministry of Environment and Water - the fifteen regional inspectorates for environment and water, the three national parks, and the four basin directorates, teams from the Ministry, the Environmental Protection Agency, the Executive Environment Agency, the National Trust Ecofund, and the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology will join the cleanup.

The Ministry of Environment and Water invites all citizens who love and protect nature to take part in the event and together let's clean Bulgaria on September 20.
