The operational units are activated as a preventive measure to ensure the safety of people and businesses in the event of warnings from National Meteorological Institute for significant rainfall and will operate 24/7 until the passage of dangerous weather phenomena.

The directors of the four basin directorates throughout the country will remain vigilant in the daily monitoring of the situation in the areas under their control, of the state of water and water bodies and will send to the National Coordination Centre at the Ministry of Environment and Water at least twice a day a summary with the following data:

- the condition of rivers - data on critical levels and emergency situations; data on critical sections of dykes and revetments;

- settlements affected by the harmful effects of water;

- other information related to the status of water, including information collected in the course of field inspections.

Warnings of expected significant rainfall are sent to the district governors of the four managed areas with instructions to exercise caution and take action within their powers and competences to protect and inform the population of possible adverse effects of the harmful effects of the waters in the region.

The teams of the basin directorates of the Ministry of Environment and Water also rely on the active cooperation by the officers on duty in municipal and district administrations within their territory to obtain up-to-date information on the situation in the area.

Reports can be submitted to the phone lines on duty at the basin directorates and to the MOEW Green Line at: 0887 088440 or 02/9888205.
