The Regional Inspectorate of Environment and Water - Burgas has a new director as of July 1
30 Jun, 2026 | 15:37Minister of Environment and Water Rositsa Karamfilova appointed Zinka Stoykova as director of the Regional Inspectorate of Environment and Water (RIEW) - Burgas, effective July 1.
Zinka Stoykova has over 30 years of professional experience in the field of environmental protection. From 1995 to early 2024, she worked at RIEW - Burgas, successively holding the positions of laboratory technician, chief expert on water emission and immission control, chief expert on “Hazardous Chemical Substances and Risk Management,” and head of the department “Ambient Air, Harmful Physical Factors, Water, Hazardous Chemicals, and Comprehensive Pollution Prevention and Control.” In 2021 and 2022, he served as director of the Regional Inspectorate of Environment and Water (RIEW) - Burgas. From early 2024 to the present, she has been Head of the “Climate, Energy, and Water” Department in the “Environment” Directorate of the Municipality of Burgas, where she was responsible for the development and implementation of policies and strategic documents in the field of the environment and climate change adaptation.
Zinka Stoykova holds a Master’s degree in engineering technology, specializing in “Bioproduction Technology” from the University of Food Technologies in Plovdiv.
Minister Rositsa Karamfilova will order an audit of the activities of the Regional Inspectorate for Environment and Water in Burgas.
