Employees from the Regional Environment and Water Inspectorate in Pleven cleaned the “Skobelev Park” in the city of Pleven today. The initiative is part of the “Let’s put an end to pollution” campaign by the MOEW.

The Deputy Minister of Environment and Water Petar Dimitrov participated in the cleaning. Activities are organized according to an announced schedule and anyone can join the groups. The purpose of the clean-up campaign is to attract followers to the cause by providing a personal example, namely by the people who are responsible for the implementation of the legal regulations for environmental protection.

The campaign “Let's put an end to pollution” was started by the leadership of the ministry last month, and the activities within it will continue in the next months, Deputy Minister Dimitrov pointed out, reminding that the MOEW and its regional structures call on citizens for responsible behavior towards the environment, such as waste disposal only at designated sites.

53 bags of waste, mostly cigarette butts, various packaging, glass, textile, and plastic bottles were collected during the clean-up in the Skobelev Park.

The participants in the initiative reminded that upon identification of contaminated areas, the relevant municipality or the RIEW should be notified of the location so that timely actions can be taken to organize a clean-up.
